Animal Waste
It’s gross, but it’s a natural part of life. When animals live in your attic they will use part of it for their bathroom, there’s no way around it.
The problem is, it’s not only disgusting, but it’s also potentially harmful to your family and pets (see “Harmful Parasites” below), and very damaging to the property.
For example, squirrels will make huge latrines in the insulation causing staining of the ceiling and outer walls of the house.
Stains on the sides of the house or on the inside walls are usually thought to be water stains from a leaky roof, but are actually from the squirrels urinating in the same spot over and over again.

Damaged Insulation
Animal waste will damage the insulation in your attic, leaving your home open to the elements, and raising your heating and air conditioning bills if you don’t get it fixed.
However, urine and feces aren’t the only weapons that animals have against your home’s insulation.
Simply by scurrying around in your attic, animals will flatten the insulation. Also, many animals will tear the insulation apart, or take it away entirely to make nests with.
When the insulation is moved, flattened, or shredded it no longer retains its insulation quality.

Harmful Parasites
If your home is damaged, you can repair it. However, if your family or your pets get sick from the animal waste in your attic, you may not be so lucky.
Several animals that are commonly found living in attics can carry dangerous viruses and parasites. Since you can get sick just by breathing infected dust particles, cleaning the mess up yourself is not a good idea. In fact, urine and feces from these animals are actually considered to be bio-hazards to both people and pets.
Exposure to bat droppings (guano) causes histoplasmosis, raccoon feces carry raccoon roundworm (known as Baylisascaris procyonis), and mice droppings carry the Hantavirus. An attic that has not been restored is like a minefield.
Gary’s Wildlife Services, Inc. specializes in the safe removal of animal waste and all soiled insulation in the attic area. The waste is removed by a special commercial vacuum with a four-inch wide hose and an over-sized vacuum bag. This ensures that no waste or dust will enter the living space of your home. The attic is then disinfected and deodorized.
Throughout the whole process, any machinery we use remains OUTSIDE of your home. This is to make absolutely sure that none of the dust or fungus we remove will get back inside your house.

Insects
The last thing you want is hundreds of fleas in your home. When animals get into your attic, they bring fleas, ticks, mites, and other insects with them. Not only are bugs annoying, but they also carry disease. You need to get them out.
Gary’s use a commercial grade cellulose blown insulation with the added benefit of boric acid as a bug killer, this is totally harmless to people and animals, but it gets rid of the bugs.
